  • Dentists often suggest getting single dentures as a temporary tooth replacement option while you wait for a bridge or implant.
  • There are two options of single tooth dentures: Partial Dentures, which are removable and not stable and Overdentures, which are fused to the gums and placed over the natural teeth to replace any missing ones.
  • Single dentures have both good and risky sides, and it is best to consult a dentist before getting one.
Single Tooth Denture: Cost, Pros, Cons & Alternatives

A single-tooth denture is just like a dental implant. The only difference is that the denture is removable and temporary, and dental implants are permanent. If you are looking for a quick solution to your missing tooth, you should go for single-tooth dentures.

What Are Single Tooth Dentures?

A single-tooth denture is a type of partial denture used to replace only one missing tooth, much like a single dental implant. This type of denture is temporary and not durable. Dentists often suggest getting single dentures as a temporary tooth replacement option while you wait for a bridge or implant.

So if you have lost your tooth due to an infection or an accident and need a quick fix, you can get single-tooth dentures.

What Are The Options Of Single Tooth Dentures?

1. Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are dentures designed to replace a set of missing teeth. They are removable and not stable. Partial dentures work well with healthy teeth.

This means that your teeth must be healthy for partial dentures to work. This is because a weak tooth cannot handle the metal framework and allow it to hook onto the remaining things around it.

Partial dentures are unstable because tightening them around the remaining teeth is difficult.

2. Overdentures

Overdentures are fused to the gums. They are placed over the natural teeth to replace any missing ones. Overdentures use the remaining natural teeth as abutments to secure the denture.

Pros And Cons Of Single Tooth Dentures

Single dentures have both good and risky sides. Before getting single dentures, ensure you visit a skilled dentist like Dr Kent Tan to check if you are eligible. Dentures have complications, so it is best to consult a dentist first.

Pros

  • Single-tooth dentures are not expensive because you are only replacing one tooth, not all of them.
  • It is easier for the single-tooth denture to blend in with your remaining teeth because of its natural look.
  • It is a great option for a temporary tooth replacement. You don’t need to undergo lengthy surgery to get the denture.
  • Single-tooth dentures are easier to clean because they are removable.

Cons

These “cons” are more drawbacks or reasons why some people skip the single-tooth denture options.

  • They are quite expensive if there’s no insurance coverage.
  • You must intentionally maintain good oral hygiene when you have single-tooth dentures. You need to ensure your teeth are clean and healthy.
  • Because the denture is not so stable, you cannot use it to chew.
  • Single-tooth dentures are not durable.  They are only a temporary tooth replacement option.

Cost Of Single Tooth Denture in Australia

Single-tooth dentures are not as expensive as full dentures. This is because you are only getting one denture. However, they can be expensive if you don’t have dental insurance.

The cost of dentures depends on the type involved. Single-tooth dentures often cost a fraction of the cost of full dentures. In Australia, partial dentures cost starts from $700.

However, it won’t be so expensive if you have dental insurance.

At My Implant Dentist, we offer very affordable prices for all our services, including single-tooth dentures. Our various finance options allow you to get excellent treatment without worrying about price.

False Tooth Alternatives and Their Cost

There are several alternatives to single tooth dentures that can be used to replace missing teeth. These alternatives include dental bridges, dental implants, and flipper dentures. The cost of these alternatives can vary greatly, with dental bridges and implants being more expensive than flipper dentures. On average, a dental bridge can cost from $5,000 per bridge, a dental implant can cost from $5,000-$7,500 per tooth, and a flipper denture can cost between $500 to $1,500.

What Does a Single Tooth Denture Look Like?

A single tooth denture can look like a natural tooth or a set of natural teeth. Removable partial dentures are usually made of acrylic and are designed to mimic the appearance of natural teeth. Fixed partial dentures are usually made of metal and porcelain and are designed to mimic the appearance of natural teeth. Implant-supported dentures can be made of acrylic or a combination of acrylic and metal and are designed to mimic the appearance of natural teeth.

Single Tooth Denture in Australia

Single tooth dentures are a popular option for those who have lost one or a few teeth in Australia. In this section, we will discuss tooth replacement options, denture costs, and partial denture costs available in Australia.

Tooth Replacement Options in Australia

In Australia, several tooth replacement options are available for those who have lost one or a few teeth. These options include single tooth dentures, dental bridges, dental implants, and flipper dentures. Each option has its own set of pros and cons, and the best option will depend on the individual’s specific needs and budget.

Denture Cost in Australia

The cost of dentures in Australia can vary depending on the type of denture, the materials used, and the location of the dental practice. On average, a removable partial denture cost starts from $1,000 to $2,500 per jaw, a fixed full mouth denture can cost from $3,000 to over $6,000 and an implant-supported denture starting at $12,000 per jaw.

Single Tooth Dentures Vs. Dental Implants

Dentures and dental implants are both tooth replacement options. However, they are not the same. The major difference between both options is that dentures are temporary solutions and dental implants are permanent.

Dental implants are more expensive to fix because they require surgery. In dental implant surgery, the surgeon will surgically infuse the implants (a titanium post) into the jawbone. The entire process takes time compared to single-tooth dentures.

Best Alternatives To Single Tooth Dentures

Since single-tooth dentures are used to replace a missing tooth, the best alternatives to them are bridges and dental implants. But dentists often recommend dentures because they are the cheapest option.

Can You Get A Denture For Just One Tooth?

Yes, you can. That is the essence of a single-tooth denture.

How Long Does A Single-Tooth Denture Last?

The dentist can last for 5 to 10 years. However, you need to go in for a repair during this time.

How Does A Single Denture Stay In Place?

There are metal clasps attached to the dentures. These clasps help clip the denture to your natural teeth and secure it firmly in your mouth.

Are Single Dentures Uncomfortable?

They may be uncomfortable during the first few days because they are new and artificial. But as you get used to them, they become more comfortable.

However, if you still experience any feeling of discomfort after 2 weeks, you should visit your dentist for a check-up.

What Is A Flipper Denture?

A flipper denture is another name for single-tooth dentures. It is a detachable retainer that is attached to your lower jaw or the roof of your mouth.

Visit An Experienced Dentist For Your Single Tooth Dentures

A single-tooth denture comes highly recommended because it is fast and very affordable. However, ensure you go to a recognised dental clinic to get them fixed. A wrong application can put you at risk of future complications. Hence, visiting a licensed clinic will prevent them from happening.

I was at a really low point in my life, had an accident 2 years ago which broke 3 of my teeth and a bridge in between my 2 front top teeth. From that moment I became extremely conscious of going out, socialising and found my self withdrawn and depressed as I didn't know what to do.Then a friend told me about My Implant Dentist. I plucked up the courage and went for my first consultation at Mindarie Quinns dental practice with Dr Zaheer who explained all my options and advised all on 4 top and bottom. Not only Dr Zaheer but all the staff and doctors at both Mindarie and South Perth were amazing and extremely professional and made the whole process seemless.Having the treatment has given me back confidence and enabled me to socalise and do things with my family and friends that I couldn't do before.I would like to thank Dr Zaheer and all the team at My Implant Dentist for everything they have done for me and recommended them to everyone I speak to.I just can't stop smiling!!!

From the moment I walked in the door My Implant dentist were very caring and professional. As a dental nurse myself I knew I would be a very hard case as other specialists said they could not help me. After my first consultation with Dr Kent he was confident that he could help me and I was provided with a clear plan for my top and bottom all on four procedure. My new teeth are perfect and so natural looking. He has made the impossible possible for me. I can smile and eat the foods I love again and this has changed my life. I picked up”Moorooka Dental Care” contact details from the web. I rang for a few questions and the happy voice of Frances had calmed my anxiety down quickly!Dr Kadwa greeted me from the front bench, took me in for the X-ray, dental assessment, carefully explaining the procedure, answered my questions and quoted for the works. He offered to breakdown work items to suit with my needs. The quote was surprisingly very compatible with my previous quote from overseas. (I know I am going to have my dental treatment in the safe zone, most medical advances in Australia). The implant work went smoothly, so smooth that the team had to remind me “Done!”, well beyond my imagination. When he saw me off with the aftercare instructions, I could feel his professional manners with caring characters. I know he has done a few thousand implants but I still received the care of his first. Thanks Zaheer!I requested X-ray images, Fatimatu responded promptly with friendly chatting.I also would like to thank Dr Linh Trần who was in the operation team at the treatment and follow up cares.

Moorooka dental have been a pleasure to deal with. I did a bit of research into dental implants and most companies had hidden fees. I booked a consult and was contacted within a few hrs to get me in and get the ball rolling. I choose to go with he implants using my super. They helped me to do all the paperwork to release the money. Definitely a good dental clinic.
