What are
dental implants?

Dental Implants are designed to replace missing teeth by mimicking the natural structure of a tooth. The dental implant post (or anchor) is made of titanium, a biocompatible material, and serves as an artificial tooth root.
Your dentist anchors the implant screw surgically into your jawbone. A tooth or teeth can then be attached to the implant. Over time, the bone fuses with the implant in a process known as osseointegration, ensuring stability.
For single or multiple missing teeth, this process usually takes 3-6 months.

Types of Dental Implants

Benefits of Dental Implants

Natural look and feel

Our dental implants look, fit and function just like your healthy, natural teeth. They blend seamlessly with your existing teeth, offering a comfortable fit so flawless you won’t even think about them.

Ease of maintenance

Just like your natural teeth, our dental implants can be easily maintained with regular brushing and flossing. There’s no need for special cleaning procedures or removals.

Longevity

Our dental implants can last for decades or even a lifetime. Unlike dentures and bridges, which may need to be replaced every 5 to 10 years, our dental implants offer a lasting solution.

Preservation of facial structure

Missing teeth can lead to jawbone deterioration and an altered facial structure. Dental implants stimulate bone growth, prevent bone loss and help maintain your natural face shape.

Protection of healthy teeth

Unlike bridges or partial dentures, our dental implants do not require grinding down adjacent teeth. This means your remaining healthy teeth are preserved, further enhancing your oral health.

Our 6-step process

01

Free Consultation

Here, we find out what dental problems you’ve been having, gather all information, take x-rays, and explain the implant processes and procedure. When you’re ready, we book you in for a 3D digital scan and surgery.

02

Dental Implant Placement

In this appointment, after you’ve taken a 3D digital scan, we place the dental implant into your jawbone. Our dental implants offer a less painful experience than expected. We place the dental implant under anaesthetic in the chair or IV sedation. Most patients resume their normal activities the next day.

03

Osseointegration

The healing phase is crucial as your implant and jawbone integrate, forming a strong foundation for your new teeth. This process may take several months, during which you can maintain your normal routine. If you had a denture before the surgery, you’d still be able to use that denture in the meantime. If you have missing teeth, you have the option to have temporary teeth made to sit on top of the implant or a temporary implant.

04

Abutment Placement

Once your implant has bonded with your jawbone, we attach a small connector, known as an abutment, above the gum line.

05

Custom-made Teeth Attached

After your gums heal, we create impressions of your mouth to custom-make your new teeth. Whether you require an individual crown, an implant-supported bridge, or dentures, these artificial teeth are secured to the abutment.

06

Periodic Check-ups

Just like natural teeth, your new implants require regular care and check-ups. We offer follow-up appointments to ensure the longevity of your dental implants

FAQs

Dental implants are small titanium posts placed in your jawbone to replace missing teeth. They act like natural tooth roots and support crowns, bridges, or dentures. Many patients choose implants over traditional dentures because they look and feel more like natural teeth, offer a long-lasting solution, and don’t require adhesives or daily removal. They also help preserve the jawbone and maintain facial structure, which is why they’ve become an increasingly popular option.
A good candidate for dental implants is someone with healthy gums, enough jawbone to support the implant, and overall good oral health. Patients should also be non-smokers or willing to quit, as smoking can interfere with healing. If you’re in good general health and committed to maintaining proper oral hygiene, you may be a great candidate for implants. We’ll assess your situation during a free implant consultation to ensure implants are the right option for you.
Dental implants are designed to be a long-lasting solution, often lasting a lifetime with proper care. The implant itself, which is placed in the jawbone, can last indefinitely, while the attached crown or bridge may need replacement every 10 to 15 years due to normal wear. Maintaining good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups is integral to help extend the life of your implants.
The procedure for getting dental implants typically involves a few steps over several months. First, we assess your oral health and take x-rays to plan your treatment. Next, the implant is surgically placed into your jawbone, where it will fuse with the bone over a few months in a process called osseointegration. Once healed, we attach an abutment to the implant, followed by a custom-made crown or bridge to complete your smile. Throughout the process, we ensure your comfort and provide gentle care at every step.
Getting dental implants is generally not painful, as the procedure is performed under local anaesthesia to keep you comfortable. Most patients report minimal discomfort during and after the surgery. Some mild soreness or swelling may occur as the area heals, but this can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relief. Our team will guide you through aftercare to ensure a smooth recovery.
Dental implants offer several benefits compared to other tooth replacement options. They look and feel like natural teeth, providing a permanent solution without the need for adhesives or removal like dentures. Implants also help maintain jawbone health, preventing bone loss and preserving facial structure. Unlike bridges, implants don’t require altering adjacent teeth, making them a more conservative option. Overall, implants provide better stability, functionality, and a longer-lasting solution than traditional dentures or bridges.
The cost of dental implants can vary depending on factors like the number of implants needed, whether additional procedures (such as bone grafts) are required, and the type of restoration (crown, bridge, or denture). On average, a single implant with My Implant Dentist starts from approximately $3,999, including the implant crown on top. During your consultation, we provide a personalised treatment plan with a detailed cost breakdown, and we also offer flexible payment plans to help make implants more affordable.
Insurance coverage for dental implants varies depending on your plan. Some insurance policies may cover part of the procedure, such as extractions or crowns, but not the implant itself. It’s best to check with your provider for specific details. At My Implant Dentist, we provide a personalised treatment plan that can be used to quote to your provider to find out how much your membership may cover. We also offer financing options to make the treatment more manageable.
While dental implants are generally safe and successful, like any surgical procedure, there are some risks and potential complications. These can include infection, nerve damage, sinus issues (if the implant is placed in the upper jaw), or implant failure due to insufficient bone support or improper healing. However, these risks are minimal when the procedure is performed by a skilled professional, and we take every precaution to ensure your safety and comfort. During your free implant consultation, we’ll discuss any concerns and outline how we minimise risks throughout the process.
Caring for dental implants is similar to caring for natural teeth. It’s important to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and using an antibacterial mouthwash. Regular dental check-ups are also essential to help maintain your warranty, monitor your implants and ensure they’re in good condition. Avoiding hard foods and maintaining a healthy diet can help prolong the life of your implants. If you have any specific questions about your care routine, our team is here to help!
Dental implants are typically made from titanium or ceramic material for the implant screw, both of which are biocompatible and durable. For the crown on top, we offer zirconia. Titanium provides strength and excellent integration with the jawbone, while ceramic offers a more aesthetic appearance. During your consultation, we’ll help you choose the best material for your individual needs and preferences.
The timeline for getting dental implants can vary based on individual needs and treatment plans, but the entire process usually takes several months.
  • Consultation and Planning: This initial phase includes assessments, x-rays, and treatment planning, which can take a few weeks.
  • Implant Placement: The surgical placement of the implant usually takes about 1-2 hours.
  • Healing Period: After placement, a healing period of 3 to 6 months is necessary for the implant to fuse with the jawbone through osseointegration.
  • Abutment Placement: Once healed, an abutment is attached to the implant, which may require another short visit.
  • Final Restoration: Finally, creating and fitting the custom crown or bridge can take an additional few weeks.
Overall, the process from start to finish can range from 4 to 8 months, depending on your specific situation and healing response. Our team will provide you with a detailed timeline tailored to your needs during your consultation.
